Youth season

My son got his first tom this morning. He shot a jake 2 years ago and struck out last year. 23.5# 10 1/4" beard. Southern wi. Turkeys were still in large flocks so we left the decoys home and set up where we had seen them strutting. Now to get my other son one.

Nice bird! Congratulations. I'm trying to get my daughter her first tom but events seem to be conspiring against us this year. She got a jake last fall but this spring it's been too many hunters on not much property and now scheduling with school and spring basketball. We're going to try again in a couple of weekends when the pressure dies down a little.

Very well done! I was hoping to take one or both of my sons for youth season next weekend. But, one has a baseball game on Sat and the other on Sun... Baseball is the reason dad and I never really hunted turkeys growing up. Maybe next year the schedules will accommodate.
