same place the king crabs went, the king salmon, pacific cod and other animal we hunted/fished to near extinction thinking we could manage them.
Could it be something to do with the billions of pink salmon that are getting dumped into the north pacific? Climate change? Fukashima?

Yeah I guess clim change is real , the Bering sea has warmed up enough to effect the crabs says the F&G bio
Bering Sea king and snow crab seasons canceled amid population declines
For the first time ever, the Bering Sea snow crab fishery will not open for the upcoming season. The Bristol Bay red king crab fishery will also be closed for a second year in a row.

I know nothing about snow crabs and the temps they like but maybe the La Nina current we're experiencing moves them. I don't know if it goes that far north.

If they're caught in the same areas then that shouldn't be much of a risk. 200 miles to the High Sea.
I’m asking because I really don’t know. What’s the enforcement like as far as people fishing foreign waters?

Well this should be good for the Northern European market for kings. Norway is flush with them and they’re considered an invasive species

The point they are ignoring here is that if the water warming did decimate the crabs the the factory trawlers can keep them from recovering.
