WEIGHING FISH BY THE INCH

I saw this and thought those of you that fish a lot with out a scale may want to be able to weigh your fish!!!!

One of the best ways to weigh a fish is to keep a ruler or tape measure in the tackle box.

Wanting to know how much that trout weighs, but you don't have a scale?

To estimate the weight of a trout, use this formula:

* Weight (lbs.) = length x girth x girth

For example, if the trout is 15 inches long and its girth (the distance around its body at its widest point) is 9 inches, it weighs about 1.5 pounds (15x9x9 = 1,215 / (divided by) 800 = 1.51).

Formulas for a few other species are as follows:

* Walleye: length x length x length / divided by 2,700

* Northern Pike: length x length x length / 3,500

* Bass: length x length x girth / 1,200

That's a pretty handy formula! Might keep that in mind next time! But's it's easier to lie...I mean guess their weight! hehe

I would NEVER implicate such a thing. Nor would I say Hunters are like men...always say they're bigger then they really are...that would be inconcievable of me to do! hehe
