The thread on the Quail slam got me to thinking, what are all the upland bird species in North America??? I'll start a short list, please add to it to include all native and introduced Upland birds you can.

pheasant
Himalayan snowcock
Ruffed Grouse
Whitetailed ptarmigan
Hungarian partridge
chukar
Bobwhite quail
California Quail
Blue Grouse ('dusky' and 'sooty')
Greater sage grouse
Gunnison's sage grouse (protected)
sharptail grouse
etc....

Keep adding

How 'bout this list...

pheasant
bobwhite quail
california quail
mearns quail
scaled quail
mountain quail
gambles quail
masked bobwhite quail (protected)
ruffed grouse
spruce grouse
blue (dusky) grouse
blue (sooty) grouse
greater sage grouse
gunnison sage grouse (protected)
plains sharptail grouse
columbian sharptail grouse
greater prairie chicken
lesser prairie chicken
woodcock
hungarian partridge
chukar
whitetailed ptarmigan
willow ptarmigan
rock ptarmigan

For the rest of the upland list include himalayan snowcock, all the turkeys, dove, pigeon, crane? ... they don't hold for pointing dogs though so they don't make my list. ;) If you include Hawaii you could add several more. And what are the partridges they shoot back east? They're not huns, are they?
