Cold Blind = Unknown Destination.
The transition to cold blinds is something newbies often struggle with.
I like to use an approach called "walk around" blinds
where each training session is a new area and new blind locations.
But pup goes with me in the field to plant at least 3 blinds.

Typically I plant them at least 200 yards and with the same "picture" from the line.
At each bumper location I look back to the line to ensure I will see pup for each entire route.
When we walk back to the line, pup knows they are out there somewhere and knows it is a long run,
so pup is not likely to break down into "hunt mode" and is likely to succeed in a few casts.

As pup gets good at this game, I start mixing a cold (unknown location) blind with
a couple walk-around blinds all with the same "picture".
Then 2 cold blinds with 1-2 walk around blinds as pup advances.
Soon pup is running all true cold blinds with confidence and success.

Here is an example of the same "picture" I ran pup on yesterday.
All 3 walkaround blinds were planted where I had sight of pup the entire route
and each blind location was near the top of a hillside.
It was a cloudy day with no wind so I ran from the south.
If it is a sunny day, I typically do not run from the south with the sun at my back
because the dog may not see me clearly, especially since I am standing on the top of a hill.
