Tommy Lee Jones is the expert tracker, seeking out his ex-apprentice and just-gone-whacko Benicio Del Toro when the latter starts killing "hunters" with his hand-made knife in the forests of Oregon. Del Toro opines that the "hunters" are actually military black ops types that are out to kill him (they were using bolt action rifles with scopes that looked like the Hubble), and that he's just basically a misunderstood ex-soldier trying to make sense of the stuff he saw in Kosovo.

Oh, yeah, BdT throws in some "man doesn't respect animals any more" type stuff along with his murder spree. TLJ also saves a "wolf" from some trapper's snare early in the movie (by removing the wire by hand while the "wolf" licks his hands  ), and states that he works for "the wildlife fund," making it clear that he's pretty much an animal hugger, too. While it's true that I don't agree with their opinions, the worst part is that none of this has anything to do with the storyline and is obviously just there to make a statement. |oo

After that we depart from the obligatory "men are evil bastards" line and enter into the expected: chase, almost catch, Feds get in the way of the chase, chase some more, etc., etc., etc. that you rented the movie for. All in all, I'd say it's disappointing to see TLJ or BdT in such a predictable, cliche-ridden movie. Two spikes of five.
