Shadow best of luck to ya.
My 1st hunt on a new farm this morning.
I found the farm way back off the beaten trail. Dirt Roads for 9 miles. I get set up and this Tom gobbled 3 times and then I saw the hens heading to him. He stayed out about 100 yards in the woods and when he was done he would talk to me then hook up with another hen. This went on till 9:30 then nothing. He did get with 50 yards but just a bit long for me. It's a sweet place I will be going back to often. Plenty of deer and bear, I'm not interested in the deer but the farm mgr. told me to come on down and he will help me get a bear. All in All I had a great morning with a slight drizzle up till 8:30.

Nice story and bird. It had to feel great to be rewarded after the long, long wait. Congrats!

2nd hunt on the farm and I had 4 different toms gobbling but as soon as they got interested a hen would jump them, this lasted from the time they flew down till 10:00 when I had to leave. I'm getting to know the new area well and tomorrow will walk to the farthest back field. And it's a Hike, No Bears , no Coyotes and no snakes as of yet.

The big bird I saw traveling with the bird I shot was taken the last day by my freinds how owns the farm he also traded me the Flower In a trade for the Restoration of his Gt Gt Grand Fathers painting. Story is he went out to unload his 62 cal Flint Lock he built and decided to sit in my little honey hole I set up and I told him the birds were coming out early afternoon in this one area. Well the 2 jakes came out 1st and this Tom entered the field and was joined by his buddy. They worked their was with in shooting range and Grov told me he was looking at a double and fired one bird went down and the other took flight. When Grov walked it off the distance was 57 yards. Not bad for a 62 cal Flint Lock !
