Anyone ever attempted to try it out? I would wait for an any elk tag but it's all private land. And Ive heard that landowners like a big check before a bull leaves. But I would throw in for a cow tag, most likely unit 11. Any info is greatly appreciated guys.

I had a friend that did this a couple of yrs ago. He was a resident and I'm not sure what unit he hunted. He said it wasn't much of a hunt. He knew that going in though and he was friends with a landowner. If I remember correctly, he shot a 330'ish bull while it was eating in a corn field. He likened it to shooting a cow at the feed trough. Has a nice bull on the wall but he said it was not near as fun as chasing them in the mountains.

Assuming you are a resident since this is a resident only tag. Cow tag may work without having to pay for access. Also there are a couple of different prairie units. The one near the Black Hills I hear is much tougher to get access.
