Headed out to the Salmon area in Idaho this fall. My question for those that have been there, is there enough open areas to set a tipi in the woods? It will be about an 8 foot square. Just not sure if its too thick and need to go with the regular tent to pack in. Thank you.
 
Yeah, depending on where you go there's plenty of space. 8'x8' is a pretty small space, I mean it's way smaller than your rig.
 
I know the area very well. Lots of places to set up a camp, should be a good elk year. Which unit do you have in mind?
 
Plenty of room around there. I'll admit I haven't been in the area for a couple years though. I'll be going back this Sept to hunt with a buddy that still lives in Salmon
