Rings and bases

What is the consensus on steel rings on an aluminum base? I made a rookie mistake, being the rookie I am, and forgot to check what the base was made of before I ordered the rings.

Got a metal base plate for the rifle and I switched to Leupold rings on a picatinny rail. Scope sits a little higher and now my struggles have disappeared. Don’t know if it was the baseplate or the rings that solved the issue but am glad my rifle is finally on point.

(Outer targets are 3 shot groups, inner target is my muzzleloader)
