Old truck appreciation (and high mileage)

Enough of these 80k show rigs the dealer maintains 😂. How about some love for the old and not so old faithfuls out there. They seem to be getting more and more reliable...

Here is my Llama hauler, about to hit 355k. 2001 2500 diesel, pictured pulling my turbo diesel grocery getter.

2005 chevy 1/2 ton. Traded it in 2012 with 225,000 miles on it.

Bought is new for $16,400 in 1993.
Four things I did not like:
1) Bench seat with me 6' 4" can not switch drivers comfortably with a shorter driver.
2) Manual hubs.
3) No air conditioning..moving to interior Alaska I thought I would not need it...
4) Hydraulic slave cylinder would rupture if driven when colder than -40F which was a cold snap winter temperature in the 1990s.

Trucks do not rust out in interior Alaska as the winter temperatures are too cold for road salt to be effective so they just use gravel on the roads.
 
I had 500K + on my '82 Toyota 4x4 when I sold it to get the '98, the '82 was purchased with funds from my '65 F-250 that had 565k on it.
I feel like over 500k on a 60s Ford is way up there! How many motors?

How many miles on that workhorse?

Original and I bought it at a military auction from the Navy. Only had 175k on it. Rare 4x4 too.
I had a '65 F-100 at the same time that was clean ,original. 175k on that one and it is in a collection now.
Service them regularly and they will treat you well, trucks that is.

I mean...not just trucks.
 
I'd love to post, but I only drive newer model F-150s and I can't fathom one of them hitting these mileage figures.
