Finally dropped into the 80's for opening day and the spinoff winds from the hurricane sitting off the outer banks gave us 10-20 mile winds much of the afternoon which made for some exciting shooting including some miracle shots as well as the usual "what happened" incidents. My 85 yr. old uncle, myself and three cousins garnered four limits of 15, with Uncle only getting a half dozen. He was under a nice shade tree and only bothered with straight on or side shots while we younger ones were out in the open spinning and firing like anti-aircraft batteries. The flying didn't start until 4:00 when they started to come in to feed, so it was a hectic hour and a half before we started to limit out. Didn't do too badly; 15 birds for 32 shots fired plus the usual 3-4 which made it into the woods or soybean field to die and never be found.
Didn't take many shots, but quite a lot of video; did want to insert a pic of cousin Jonathan who is a couple months away from going back for his second tour in Afghanistan. Say a prayer for his safe return as well as all our troops. Semper Fi Jonathan!

Give Jonathan our best and thank him for his service.

Damn doves leave Montana before season even gets open. Great fun to be had when they are flying good.
