National Park Service Poor Management of Zion

Apply P/L logic. Disney wouldn't let Pirates of Caribbean site closed for 9 years.

From the data provided, the NPS has not spent a dime on the trail in 9 years and visitation has increased 54%. Sounds like Disney should be consulting the NPS on P/L logic.

What's really sad is this country once could get shit done. Remember history lesson about CCC. All over the country these folks built the parks and many public projects.

Well, you shouldn't have been 14 minutes off your time. The contract clearly shows massive penalties for failure to complete on time. If we showed you favortism, we'd have bedlam. Nuns would be working brothels, people would be using leaded gas, Detroit would root for Green Bay.

Do you want this kind of anarchy? Because that's what you get when you make exceptions to gov't contracts.

..anecdotally accurate.

There should be some National Parks up against urban areas. A poor kid in the city lacks the resources to go on a multi-state road trip to see Zion or Yellowstone. We have a few urban graveyards as NPs and a closed facility or two but we missed the boat in the past setting aside park land before land was converted to private. Most voters are in within 50 miles of a city with over 100,000 population rather than anywhere near Zion or Yellowstone. As soon as a visit requires an overnight trip to see a NP, is going to be out of sight, out of mind for the majority of voters and lawmakers due to distance or door to door cost for the potential trip. $30 a car? Plus a pass is needed to enter, correct?

Amen.

Here's the NPS Urban Parks website: https://www.nps.gov/subjects/urban/index.htm

The Land & Water Conservation Fund also funds urban parks, golf courses, ponds, swimming pools, tennis courts, open space and playgrounds.

Both of these programs are slated for major cuts under this administration's proposed budget.

A good old-fashioned hiring freeze should help keep that trail closed and it has the added bonus of keeping people unemployed to. The trickle-down effect sure works with excrement and urine

NPS has been a pork barrel for decades. Anyone ever been to this park? https://www.nps.gov/stea/index.htm

Record attendance 2016 at 99,660. Close it or privatize! The folks who run the Durango - Silverton line in Colorado could probably figure it out.
