Muntjac

Here's a couple of muntjac bucks from this season. They are an Asian deer species that was originally brought over for private collections but through escapees and deliberate releases since the 1920's we now have widespread and growing population. They are a wonderful little deer in every way to hunt, watch, photograph and the venison is fantastic.

Thank you, they are special little deer. Here's my little collection of muntjac I only keep the bigger bucks of 8cm or bigger.

The Reeves Muntjac is the species that we have here in the UK but there are well over a dozen different species spread across Asia.

If you watch a dog they'll generally let you know if there are deer moving through your area and yes she'll track after the shot. She's also a picking up dog for pheasant, partridge, duck, pigeon etc

Yes both bucks and doe's have fighting tusks with the bucks being much larger and the little buggers know how to use them
