Anyone ever take a GP medium and make it smaller? Found a GP Medium for the good price, but Id like to have it made smaller say 16x20 ish, anyone ever has this done or do this themselves? Cost? Is the modified section weatherproof? Would 16x20 be enough room for 4 guys, their gear and room to sit around the wood stove?

Id think 16x20 would be fine. I've used a 16x16 for 4 guys and we had plenty of room. We didn't use a wood stove, and that would have cut into our space.

You tape and seal the modification seams. If you use the remnant cloth from the original tent, it should be just as weatherproof after the mod. I'd try to minimize any seams where water may pool.

One option would be a mobile command post. They are modular, and Velcro together. So you can adjust your tent size based on hunting party. Each command post has plenty of room for 2. Even with a stove. They are much easier to put up than the older GPs.

But if you got a smokin deal on the GP, I'd probably try it.
