Messing up a wet dream - MTFWP big 3 draw

I don’t believe there’s anything nefarious. It’s just incompetence.
Conspiring takes competence. This is why most conspiracy theories aren’t real.
I’m not sure, it would take Ray Charles to not see what has happened to our mule deer in region 7. It seems like there is a higher power not allowing them to adjust for it.

No joy anyway. BUT, after all the years of applying I could truly understand those that did draw and were told they did NOT could become very angry. Crap! Seems someone needs to audit that office. Someone isn’t doing their job. Tough going for those that drew and will be denied. MTG

Hi, MTGunner.

I will "take one for the team" and volunteer, on an unpaid status, to audit the 2024 Montana FGP draws before publication next year.

They'll have to email me the data beforehand because I think its like a 20 hour drive to Helena from the Midwest. Just trying to do my part.

Happy hunting, TheGrayRider.

I do not delude myself thinking I will draw a sheep tag……ever In MT. Quite frankly my age is a factor and perhaps may or may NOT apply next year. It depends on how I feel and my health at age 76. I have drawn and harvested a nice mountain goat. So, perhaps it would be a grand gesture to bow out. Will see.
But, for anyone to draw one of these coveted tags only to find they would have to give it back is beyond the pale. I urge all to post comments regarding this unmitigated debacle. It may fall on deaf ears but at least your concerns have been posted. This entire episode stinks. My .02 cents. MTG

Hahaha is this real life???

And i also saw a video today of a man, claiming to be a woman. Who was swimming against women when he clearly has a ding dong in his shorts… this is the world we live in you guys. Nothing makes sense.

I am a little less likely to bash FWP as many here get such satisfaction in doing so. I believe the FWP is over burdened and underfunded for the size of this state and the diversity in not only game, but the immensity of Montana. I also don’t think the department is run to enhance Gianforte’s friends and his hunting habits.

I don’t know Worsech or how inept he really is, but I have been a casualty in the FWP drawing statistics. When I applied for my moose permit in 2020, they transposed the last 2 digits in my hunting area and I drew a permit in the wrong area. I talked to the permit specialist and asked that since I was successful, if they could give me the tag for the next year and I would wait a year so I wouldn’t mess up their statistics for 2020.

They told me there was no statute for doing that, and even though it was their mistake, they said I had to August 15 to take the tag they gave me or turn it in and I would be put back in the drawing for the next year. I told them that if they gave the same opportunity to the Powerball Jackpot winner, they would have a riot on their hands. They were unmoved by my analogy and told me to take it or leave it.

I took it and shot the biggest moose I ever saw in Montana. I know it was all luck, but the game warden in the area that I did get the permit in, said there were so few moose in that area, they shouldn’t be issuing any permits there.

What do you do? I am not leaving Montana and I am not going to quit hunting…

Maybe I'm missing your point here. IMO, your soley responsible for your own app. I'm not sure how the numbers got switched or whatever happened. But, that is going to fall on the applicant in every way, shape or form if they put the wrong district in. That's your problem not theirs.

You made the most of it and turned out ok for you in the end. Not knowing you, I would bet that if it didn't turn out the way it did chances are you wouldn't feel the same way.

Everyone has their view but the entire leadership and direction of the FWP is about as competent as

Yes, you missed the point. It was the FWP department that transposed the numbers on the application, not me. I go directly to the region headquarters to apply for licenses to avoid the mistakes you can make on you computer.

When I applied for all my permits, a mistake was made in entering the party hunt on the antelope permit. When the person at the counter re-entered the moose permit, she transposed the last 2 digits. When I called Helena, it showed up in their records as the correct area on the first application and wrong on the second. That is an internal problem that wasn’t due to my application…

You demand more from an agency tasked with managing a public resource. That’s exactly what you do. It’s guys like you, letting FWP off the hook for their incompetence, that allows them to screw it up every single year. Running a draw is very simple. Hell, there are probably 20 guys on the site that could do it with less issue than FWP.

Because I don’t bitch like Buzz and others doesn’t make me an enabler. Bitching hasn’t made it any better either…

How did they transpose numbers? All the units are listed, you just click on one.

I hope they don't count votes for our presidential election the same way they did for these special permits. Just add a few thousand here, a few thousand there!
