Congratulations!!! Sounds like you were in the right spot at the right time. You obviously were prepared and the opportunity was presented to you. Doesn't get much easier or better than that. You're right the elk probably were spooked and that big bull was with his harem this time of the year. My wife also shoots a .270 with Nosler Particians....quite a nice gun for elk. Keep you hunting spot at close hold!
