Ladies & Gents my choice of words is not flowing as it normally does so please excuse any errors.
Yesterday, Thursday 1st July, I found out that a friend of mine Tony Campbell lost his life whilst hunting Bull Tahr on the West Coast, South Island of New Zealand with his son Tony. It appears that he has come to grief in some steep country and subsequently died.
I am unsure of all the facts but it appears as though Tony may well have died in his sons arms. I know Anthony too and this will have a great effect on him, his mother and two sisters.
Tony was a accomplished hunter having Hunted Stone Sheep in Alaska many years ago, hunted in Africa and traveled to New Zealand many times.
He was a genuine and caring man that all ways had time to shoot the breeze and give advice if requested.
Tony, you will be sorely missed by many mate.
So be careful out there guys
Requiem
Under the wide and starry sky
Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live and gladly die,
And I laid me down with a will.
This be the verse you grave for me;
"Here he lies where he longed to be,
Home is the sailor, home from sea,
And the hunter home from the hill."
Vale Tony Campbell
