Good day chasing some uplands

Sorry Rocky. I have only hunted with Ruger for a few hours, but was very impressed how good he was at ferreting out birds. He really shined in the thick stuff. I posted by a thicket for about 5 minutes and then when we came back with the dog he scented birds in there and flushed out a hen and rooster. After he brought back the rooster I shot he went back in and flushed another hen. We laughed as he went back in and found another.

MHMT has much more experience with the pup, maybe he will chime in.

Ruger finds birds, that's for sure. He hunts the thick brush like crazy, and will crawl through anything to put up a pheasant. He's a good retriever and has a soft mouth, as long as other dogs are not close to him... but if he gets on a scent of a running rooster you better have you're running shoes on, or he'll put them up at 100 yards. He tends to be worthless one minute and then do something awesome to redeem himself the next. However, I don't think he is one to compare all springers to...

he is also a pretty good equipment operator.
