First ones of 2014

Well between a new 2 week old baby boy, work, and poor weather, I finally got out for the first hunt this year. Dad had already been twice and found 6 one day and 4 the next. I didn't have any luck today. He found the little 5 point I am holding. I may not have had any luck, but it sure was nice to get a mile or two on some new boots and start to walk off the winter pounds before turkey season! Here are a few pics.

Looked for some yesterday while I was out with the nephew squirrel hunting. No luck. You guys found some nice ones.

Finding six in one day is pretty damn good without a dog. I found three in the past two day with about 4 hours of walking....Seen 6 full racked bucks in suburbs of Cleveland Ohio, last evening in one spot. Two were even sparring.

There are quite a few still carrying here as well. We usually find most of ours from now until mid-march before it starts greening up. They are all singles, not a match in the whole group. There are 3 last year sheds, but all the rest are fresh.

nice finds. I went out Sunday, but the snow in my "honey hole" woods was still pretty deep. May try to go agian this weekend. I haven't seen any bucks with horns here for weeks. . .Who knows.
