I am planning on doing a Mulie Bowhunt this September (last week) and was wondering if buying a bear tag would be a good idea. I know it's not much cost and probably will end up throwing that on or an OTC elk tag but probably not both. I am thinking I will be near Montrose.

I'm not afraid to switch gears just have not been able to find as much readily available info on the bear population and hunting opportunity in the area.

I've never not seen a bear hunting that side of the state, my point was more once you get a bear down... the time you will spend butchering it, packing it out, and getting it checked might cut into your deer hunting.
