A little Florida fishing...

Just thought I would share a few pictures from my recent excursion to the sunshine state...

With the hundreds of boat chasing the big tarpon run to Boca.. we thought we'd stay inshore and hit some fish on the flats with bait and fly gear as well. Was a good call because we had it virtually to ourselves. Sea trout and reds (ocean carp) were on. Most of the trout were small but the reds were on the larger side. All catch and release with the exception of one smaller red that we released on to the bbq...lol Hooked into a few mackerel around the passes but those toothy bastages always cut through the line before they made their way into the boat..

Made it to the beach a few mornings at dawn with the fly rod and tore them up. Pretty awesome standing with sand between the toes and the tide washing up your legs...watching the sun rise and ripping lips as fast as you can. Nothing really big to speak of... mostly lady fish and jacks with a few odd one thrown in here and there. But enought to wear your arm out in a few hours...

Right on! I went to Mexico a few years ago for Rooster fish on the fly, in between Roosters, we caught a ton of Lady Fish, and I would take one of those over a Rooster any day. They are a blast
