Here are a few pics from my recent trip to WY. Went on an 11 day, solo trip for rifle antelope and archery elk. Also took the shotgun as I really wanted to shoot a sage grouse but never saw one. Overall I had an awesome trip. I burned my points on a good antelope unit and looked over about 125 public land bucks in 3 and half days of hunting and am very happy with the buck I got. I was also shocked at how few hunters I saw. The unit opened on a Saturday and I got there Sunday night. Beginning Monday, I only saw 4 hunters in those 3 and a half days. Not sure if guys were elk hunting, working or just didn't want to drive to the middle of nowhere area that I was in.

Dealt with quite a bit of rain for my elk hunt but also had a few nice days. Had a close stalk on a bull to 90 yards that was bedded just BARELY over a ridge but a cow off to the side had me pinned down and I couldn't get any closer. Stared at his rack on the skyline for close to 2 hours. Finally decided to put my whole body on the ground and slither through some sage but she busted me and that was it. Had that cow not been there, I think I could have gotten to 40 yards no problem and when he stood up to check his cows, could have had a great shot opportunity. Since I had only bowhunted elk for 8 hours in my life at that point though, it probably wouldn't have been fair for it to happen that easily!

All in all it was a fantastic trip and I can't wait to go back for elk with a rifle and fellow HuntTalker BlakeA. Was great to see lots of new country and Wyoming is a very special place. Hard to believe how much fun you can have there hunting public land for free.

One last thing, anybody know what the last 2 pictures would be from? It was a hole drilled right on the middle of a rocky, remote ridge with absolutely nothing around it.

My guess on that hole is an old corner marker or survey monument was there. Nice antelope and pictures! Congrats

Flatrock- great pics, sounds like an excellent adventure, and great buck! How were his prongs? We saw a lot of good bucks out in the SW and I would say
that when all is said and done, 2016 is going to go down as a good wyoming antelope year.....

Prongs were decent. About 4 and a half and 5 inches. I'll have to post a side pic or two.
