No shoot to what you think your abilities are and don't worry about it. In my opinion a nice comfy 75 yard shot is always better. Anyone that hunts and says they haven't missed or had a Hunt go south will probably find their nose growing like Pinocchio.

I've been hunting since I was a teen. I've probably taken 200 deer with a 270. I actually hated bigger calibers for deer hunting . Majority of my shots was between 100 yards to 500 yards not like I've never taken a critter at that distance. IDk sometimes a Hunt can go just go south like it did...

I'm also dealing with a very serious family health issue right now . Some days I'm not getting enough sleep and it's causing me to have weird/ wild mood swings . I get happy then I get grumpy . I apologize if I seem off in the head some.

Why I Don't Like Big Fin

I did it back in 2018 and even though my Elk hunt fell apart on me. I still had a good time and even now I'm might not be a popular guy on here and getting made fun of because I still have no Elk.( It doesn't bother me) I still dream of going back and what I'm going to do different next time to...

Lol..i didn't use a thin jacketed bullet or take a 600 yard shot. Just making some points what might be a bad idea at longer ranges .I don't know might tell my friend that a nice premium bullet in a 165 grain or heavier with more energy down range would work better for a 400 yard shot .

My apologies I'm just having a little fun .on serious note doesn't ever rifle have it's limitations.. like a well experienced hunter using a .243 would know exactly where it would perform at and where it wouldn't. Just asking for a friend.

I'll back it up to 400 to 450 yards .. would you still use a thin jacketed 130 grain in a 270?? After all you are rifle hunting now.

Preferred .300 Mag Elk Loads You Use?

180 grain Barnes ttsx or nosler Accubond. To heck with them light grain small calibers.

I prefer to hear what you actually used Elk hunting this year. What is your Max distance you like. Do you try and stay out the high shoulder shots and stay more to lung area thanks

I'm open to that discussion if it makes sense and is logical then no harm to listen to what some one has got to say about it some habits are hard to break if someone is use to holding a certain way on a critter

That's fine but what does randy actually use today ?? hmmm mostly a .308 and 165 grain or bigger. I'm going a different route on my next elk hunt I'm taking a 300 win mag sorry that's just the way I feel . most kids do start out on low recoil guns. The hunters out there can do what they want...

Thanks for being classy and sorry I'm coming back again. yeah ..yeah in a perfect world everyone always makes a prefect shot. Never meet a hunter that didn't have a bad hunt doesn't matter if you hunt out west or back east. you might want to spell check some also. i' haven't attacked one person...
