Same reason I still carry a compass. Back up. I use phone with OnX and several other GPS apps, a handheld GPS as backup, and a compass as backup to the backup.
I was able to find Carbon County and Albany County road maps online from their county websites. I wish the news was better for me. I found several roads that are private that I was hoping were public.
So you might want to search for your particular county online.
If you know where you will be ahead of time, you can download maps while you have cell service. Then when you lose cell service you have to use your saved offline maps. Do it before you enter the spotty cell signal areas. This worked great for me in NW Colorado 2 years ago.
Can't speak for Elk and broadheads but I have put Ramcats through some wild hogs and lots of whitetails. Just be aware that they are 1 3/8" and may not fit your current quiver. I had to change quivers when I started shooting them about 10 years ago.
We routinely age whitetail deer meat down here in Florida in coolers. Keep the meat dry and don't let ice touch the meat. Garbage bags or big zip locks. Make sure meat cools before putting in plastic. I usually do 4 days to a week. Wild pigs as well.
I might try the dry ice as an experiment down here in FL on some fresh deer meat. Archery season is just opening in South Florida. Bucks shed their velvet a few weeks ago and have been chasing. Here where I live in Central FL, we are still in velvet and bucks are in bachelor groups. Crazy state...
I buy/sell a bunch of hunting fishing gear through FB. You are right about the gun/ammo scares though.
I personally would use another FB buy/sell group if it was started.
Hunting, Fishing, and Diving groups on Facebook is the main reason I use it.
