I used a Bow Medic Field press that catches the limbs and the tips, Tipton ultimate gun vise and a second ratchet strap to comepletely tear down my bow, remove/clean the cams and replace the string. It helped to first turn down the poundage as much as possible, I can turn my Mission ballistic...
I was in the same boat as the OP, I hadn't changed my string or D loop in a long time (8 years original string and d loop).
They were both showing some wear and I knew it was time, but I don't shoot a ton and a couple years wasn't able to hunt archery season so I shot only a couple times those...
This is what I have found also. If you have a long action with a short tube scope it may be difficult to get the proper eye relief, at least it is for me. That said I have DNZ Game Reapers on my muzzle loader (CVA Accura V2 with a Bushnell DOA 250), .308 (Savage 11 with a Sig Whiskey3 4-12x40)...

Cass county here also, all but for 5 years in the Navy. Retired, drawing pension from one job working on the second one. Still hunt the family farms I grew up on.
The only broadhead I have really ever used is the Muzzy 3 blade, first 100g now 125g . Depending on the speed of your arrow it may also make a difference if you shoot fixed or mechanical blades. I like the Muzzy because they are sharp, tough and simple. I went to the 125 to get more FOC. Some...
I have a TC Compass 300wm also. I originally had a DNZ game reaper and a Vortex crossfire 6-18×44. Eye relieve was at the limit for me. I switched to a leupold freedom 6-18×40 and a DNZ, it's longer bodied so I can get it lower and get more adjustment for eye relief. Works well.
There is also Stokade stocks, their main business is Savage rifles. I bought a used one recently and really like it. They are 2.5 to 3 lbs. I replaced a Hogue full bedded stock and gained a few ounce but it is solid and looks great. They are custom made and there is a wait, but the cost is alot...
