Hunting Jarbidge Wilderness in Nevada.
This was my second cow tag in Jarbidge. It was a tough but fun hunt. Killed on third day and then packed meat for four days. Logged lots of miles with a heavy pack but I SAY do it while you can, some day I will be to old for that hunt.- Silver state sportsman

Rain gear for early November elk hunt
That little bit of weight might be worth it. I like putting my rain gear on in morning when sitting and classing for a little extra warmth. Even if not raining I just use it for that extra layer- Silver state sportsman

Yes, that is true. I have packed a few out. I bone them out then hang bags in shade. In Nov. The nights get cool enough. Knock on wood I haven't lost any meet so far. Never killed one in September, that would be a different story I'm sure.- Silver state sportsman

Looks like the trails are still open to 2 wheel bikes but having them closed to 4 wheel bikes will cut back a lot I would think.- Silver state sportsman

NV Cow Elk 072A.
A cow tag is alot easier last year there was tags for the wilderness only in the 2nd draw. This year I believe it filled in first draw but still good draw odds.- Silver state sportsman

Thanks for responding. I seen plenty of elk sign just don't want to get in the middle of a mess of hunters. My girls grew up hunting in nevada were it is easy to have lots of country to your self.- Silver state sportsman

My daughter's live in boise and want to elk hunt in idaho.we spent 8 days on the north fork of boise river hiking the trails including the saw tooth wilderness. Looks like there some elk around there. Not afraid to go in a few miles from the trail head. Is that a ok over the counter rifle hunt...- Silver state sportsman
