Good luck, I also drew a Utah archery deer tag only in the San Juan Abajo unit, 14b. I also asked if anyone would have any info they would be willing to share. Same as yours, no reply. Lots of guys reading thread and looking for info as well I'm guessing but nobody willing to chime in with...
Just read the complete story/thread. Awesome but beginning to think that I may not have too many years left to get one myself. I've got 14 bonus points now for Utah and it seems like I may never draw that tag. Started applying when I was 52 so getting up there in years but I still get out...
Archery coues is tough for sure but there are strategy's that work good on them. Glassing and bedding a buck works if he beds in a spot that will allow a stalk to within bow distance. Get within your effective range and sit him out. Sooner or later he will get up to feed again or just to...
Decoying during archery is the way to go. You might try 10 stalks with the decoy and 9 of them will fail but on the 10th one when he comes in you'll be hooked for good. Best part is they don't always come in numerical order, might be the 2nd or 3rd try that works! :-) I've got an Arizona...
Anybody have any idea how the hunting pressure is in this unit west of Monticello and northwest of Blanding is during the archery deer season. How hard is it to get away from ohv's for some fairly undisturbed hunting. I like to mainly glass then stalk after hopefully bedding an animal if the...
Oh yes, forgot to mention that although everyone would like to kill a monster muley, this old timer would be happy with just a mature buck and even a yearling cow since I'll be packing it out by myself and in my mid 60's although in decent shape those 2 hour hikes uphill or packing even a mid...
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated for early deer and elk. I drew an archery deer tag but failed on the elk so I'll just get an OTC spike/cow tag. West out of Monticello or NW out of Blanding? Never hunted southern but just northern up by the gorge, North Slope. Not looking...
My wife is not going to be happy to see more episodes of Randy Newberg on the smart tv. Nothing to do with Randy, she is just not happy I've found the channel and glued to the TV! Love all the episodes. Waiting to see how many episodes the Montana black bear will take. Beautiful scenery...
I drew an archery deer tag there and will probably purchase an OTC elk tag as well since I didn't draw a limited entry tag for the same unit. Any suggestions where to start looking, out of Monticello or northwest of Blanding or ??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I'll throw one in for the 125 grain swhacker. with the 2 1/2" cut most animals don't go very far after hit and most drop within sight. Also note you need a good amount of KE for most mechanicals to work good.
