    CO 2nd Rifle Mule Deer

We hunted 2nd season this past year and it was relatively warm. But we found deer scattered from 7500-9500ft. Most were holding tight in timber except for small excursions early in the AM and late in the afternoon. My buddy killed his buck in the morning as he crossed a meadow from one block of...

Recommendations for a new bow for elk?

Congrats on your new bow!! I've shot Mathews, Bowtech, Hoyt, Obsession and Xpedition all in the last 4 years. I think the new companies are really making a splash. I loved the Xpedition but the one I kept was the Obsession M7 @ 29" and 72lbs.

    Jacobsen's University of Elk Hunting

I used the hunt talk code and have been working my way through the modules. Very informative!! He uses some very unique methods for instruction that are very helpful for the visual learner instead of just reading or reciting. Highly recommended for all the guys who are posting the "Newbie in...

    What inline to get

x2 on what Schmalts and frontier said--- CVA makes a great gun. I have and love the Accura V2. Do get the Bh209 breech plug and figure out how much BH209 works for you.

    New to the game

Dustin-- The ML should come already tapped for iron sights front and rear. I shoot an Accura V2 and it came with the one piece scope mount but already was tapped for irons and they have small screws in them to protect the threads. BH209 Breech plug-- absolutely need this if it isn't included...

    multi purpose rifle

Of the two calibers mentioned I would take the 7/08... But I think guys made some great points with the 6.5CM or even a 25/06. If it is a rifle you want to pass down then I don't think you can beat a walnut stocked, blued rifle. It teaches the importance of maintenance and also gives a great...

    Bear/whitetail rifle

Gotta love the new hunt, new rifle!! Since you have an '06 and will be hunting black bear and want to use it for deer maybe look at one of the .284 calibers.... .280, .280AI, 7RM, 7STW, flat shooting, plenty of choices for ammo and it'll give you a little something different in the safe. If...

    Older Remington 700

I found a great stainless Rem 700 barreled action from an older rifle and picked up one of the older BDL stocks for a song! I have finished the inlet, going to add a Red Pachmyar recoil bed, DEVCON bed and then it should be good to go!!

    Time For New Scope

I think a Leupold VX-6 2-12 might fit your bill as well. It is a more expensive scope but I didn't see a budget listed! 2-12x-- gives you a good size obj lens, nice low power for timber situations and ability to crank it up. Recently at the NRA convention I looked at the Vortex Razor HD LH--...
