Seems as though you're starting him off a little hard core. Not trying to tell you how to parent, you've been doing it longer than me. But I would start a little more simple, especially fly fishing, that takes a fair amount of skill. Get him to a place where he's spending most of the time...
Roaming Facebook earlier and come across this hunting page, and everyone on there is clamoring for the eradication of indigenous wolves. This is why people who don't hunt look at us as if we are some sort of animals. I understand that wolves are a problem in the west, and they definitely need to...
As a young hunter in Illinois who lives but 10 miles from the Indiana boarder, I feel your pain. I'll tell you what, I am definitely prepared to help you fight this. I want involved. You tell me what you would like to do, and we can work on something and get it started. I'm very serious. I sat...
I was quite surprised at how helpful everyone was on my thread about going out west to hunt. If anyone would like some info on Midwestern hunting, Illinois especially, I will be happy to help where I can.
Yes sir, I do. There's face masks you can buy that also simulate low oxygen, but I've been told not to train with them because there has been a few athletes that have actually starved their brain of oxygen and had a hemorrhage. Lol.
More than once, at least. I don't expect to go my first time and bag a big bill. I'm not even really a stickler on bull or cow. I hunt to fill the freezer. I haven't bought meat from the store in 3 years.
Thank you. Now I at least know which states are OTC. I know some states are a major pain to even get a tag in. I was thinking Colorado would probably be the easiest one to get a tag for (explains the pressure, go figure), but then again, pressure doesn't worry me too much, as I deal with...
Oh, I definitely wouldn't cheap out on gear. I'm an avid bow hunter here in illinois, so I'd imagine I already have most of what I'd need for an elk hunt. Might need some new boots, mine are a bit worn. We don't do too much walking here for white tails, so I've been putting that off.
Hmm. This may not be the answer you are looking for, but my best guess is, it's not likely. I'm pretty positive that they would test for CWD before exporting anything to anywhere, in or out of the country. The disease attacks the brains of affected animals, causing them to become emaciated...
Hey guys, new here. I'm wondering, what are your tips for the average guy that wants to get out west to do some hunting. I live in illinois, but I am originally from Idaho. All though we moved away (for God knows what reason, it sucks here) when I was 10, I have always missed the hunting out...
