I figured that was about the response id get....no offense taken :)
I knew how dire the situation was in WY 3 years ago....was just curious as to what's been going on there since I haven't checked in for a few years.
I heard talk about guys with minimal points pulling tags be used people...
start with the barrel...what size bullets are you going to primarily be using? if it's heavier stuff like 69g and up...find a barrel with a 1:7 or 1:8 twist. 1:8 is really good because it'll still toss 69g stuff really nicely while still allowing use of 55g projectiles with good results...
would 5 PP for WY moose draw a decent tag? not interested in trophy hunts...just some great scenery and a solid chance at a mature WY bull moose.
it's been a few years since I did any real research towards zones/regions...and can't remember which zones offered the best access and such.
much...
was so blown away by this podcast that I went back and listened to it a second time to make sure I didn't miss anything. it was TOP NOTCH in soooo many ways!!!!!
while we're on the topic...you get three choices for entelope draw....most guys i know usually focus on the first two and just throw a random zone for the 3rd choice because they want to ensure that the second choice is drawn. (if it's going to be close % )
the reason i ask about the 3rd...
i'd get your brother-in-law a handicappped tag to hang from his rear view mirror :D
missed opportunity there......i would have bet him $1000 that after cleaning the rifle would be within an inch of where it was today....and then after taking his money i'd grab a couple buddies and we'd have a...
so for an OTC non resident bear hunt....is there a specific area in region 3 that anyone would suggest? i've driven through there before but never been in the woods south of Bozeman so i can't really tell what the terrain is like. going to park the truck and camp with a wall tent and hike/hunt...
Finally introduced himself the other night....Levi is 8lbs 4oz and 22.5 inches long. He's perfect...and his mom did just fine too...she's a real trooper. Looking forward to all the fun adventures. Thanks for the stories guys!!!!
Yeah definitely let me know....and if I've got the vaca time and you need an extra set of eyes I'd be more than happy to come along and help with the hunt
I'm looking to have a new project rifle built and I need a left handed action for the build.....preferably a Remington 700 but I could use a lefty Mauser for this specific one if someone had one. Barrel stock and all else doesnt really matter....just really interested in the action/trigger...
All depends on the terrain. On my property here out east.....if there is a great tree near a great funnel or inside corner on a field...that's where the tree stand goes. I've got one field with great natural funnel that is nothing more than where two fields touch an uncut grassy hill. Tallest...
So we lost power here in PA where i live and the chest freezer in the shop was stacked with wild boar, mule deer, antelope, white tail, dry sea scallops from a friend who fishes out of cape may nj, 75 goose breasts and who knows what else.......
But I don't care because I'm at the hospital with...
i feel lucky to be able to throw my feet into a pair of Asolo 520's and have them fit like a glove and go for miles...and only pay $200 for em.
i've hiked in lots of boots over the years....Vasque boots were always good but my feet fit better in the Asolo boots.
my current Asolo's only have...
yeah the tent pole is 3 pieces or 4 pieces i think...and ours is aluminum. it's no biggie...that 3.5lbs it the total weight of the tent and the pole...so it's really nothing when it comes to weight.
i mean....5lbs total weight for a big ass tent...and a stove...it's an awesome way to hunt...
yes there is a spark arrestor that fits inside the pipe....but....i don't care what anyone says....you will end up with little tiny holes in your tent even if you use it religiously :) but, at the same time...it's no big deal. i would think i could use this thing for 10 years before it had...
yeah the pricing is great...and they're top notch products.
keep an eye out for the tent..we got that one used and got a great deal on it. my buddy bought the tent and i bought the stove.
stove is titanium...and yes there is a flu so you can slow things down or make it scream! it's cool because when it gets all hot the titanium turns bright blue...makes for a nice night light :) prices are all noted on the websites...links are below.
