I have 12 PP for CO and this is the year! I am a NR looking for a guided hunt where I have a good chance of taking a mature 6X6 for a trophy. Prefer a ML hunt or 1st rifle. Any recommendations for me? If you had 12 PP what areas would you look at and who would you go with? Honest...
Wishunter,
Thanks for the input. I had been looking at 61 for the past few years and have been researching outfitters in that unit but I am getting impatient because it seems to take 1 more point than I have every year. From what I've read that seems to be the unit and it must be good cause...
. . . and wanted to hunt a trophy bull during the 2008 blackpowder season in Colorado, which unit would you choose? Open to suggestions on good outfitters also.
That pipeline is an amazing engineering feat. Getting to see it and drive up the haul road to Prudhoe bay was an adventure itself. I'm glad I got the chance to go and someday I want to go after a trophy caribou.

Here's a shot of my 'bou. He wasn't a B&C trophy but after going above the arctic circle, hiking some of the toughest terrain I ever dealt with and packing back over that same terrain he is a trophy to me!
Notice I am smiling with my mouth closed. That's to keep the flies out! The blood...

Since hunting sheep in the Crags last year wasn't enough punishment I decided to do a "Haul Road" caribou hunt this year with a rifle. So, I had to hike in across the tundra a minimum of 5 miles to shoot one with my Ruger. I have come up with a new formula for hiking: 5 miles of tundra = 15...

Good luck on your hunt in that area. I was in there last year and talked to you for advice before I went. Those pictures make me want to pack up and go up there again. Amazing how a year makes you forget what packing in there is like. I'll be up in Alaska chasing Caribou while you guys are...
Thanks for the info. You are right, he does know about those areas. I talked to him on the phone last week and he mentioned one of those as an option - if the caribou are there. Can't wait to get up north and start chasing those critters around.
I fell into this one. Sitting in the airport waiting on my plane and Alaska Airlines comes on and asks if anyone is willing to give up thier seat on an overbooked flight and get a free ticket anywhere they fly. OF COURSE! So now I have a free flight to Alaska. Next day at work I tell my...
I had more delays as my buddy with the horses got stranded in Wyoming due to bad weather for two days. Didn't get to leave till Monday AM. We finally got into my area, after more delays, rounding up horses, buying more feed, getting everything packed on the pack team took 3 hours at the...
Goin' in Sunday
Talked to my buddy with horses and he says he's bringing the chains for the truck and we're going in this coming Sunday. Long term forcast from the NOAA for that elevation shows a 30 to 40 % chance of snow showers Thurs. and Fri. but that begins to taper off through the...
Hunt delayed - again
We loaded up the horses and headed for the Crags Friday PM. Stopped in Challis for supper and you could not even see the mountains for the smoke. Called the FS dispatcher and he said the fire on Waterfall had not been moving for the last three days and that the mountain...
C'mon Down Elkchaser you're welcome to go in there with me. It'd be good to have some company. Course, you might have to slow down a little so I could keep up. :D BTW - Bugs, as a main course for dinner are out!
