I've struggled with this as well in the past...and I have come to this conclusion:
It all depends what on what I want out of my hunting season. If I am purely hunting for the mature animal; then I have to be OK with tag soup. However, I have come to the realization that while I enjoy a nice...
What's everyone using to fit this bill???
I am using my old closed cell foam mat, which I've had since the late 80's - as far as reasonable comfort and R-value, it works pretty good...But I really would like to improve the packed size factor (anyone that's used these know they are not compact)...
That's what I'm talking about, they're a decent happy medium as far as noise IMO. Years ago I used to run the older style of BFG Mud TAs...now those were tires that would shut down the conversation!

That mirrors what I have read, but I haven't actually talked to anyone that has used them. I'm a little concered about getting confused by a different style of reticle, but I'm thinking it's early enough now that if I do get one; I'll have plenty of time over the summer to get used to it...
Another factor, IMO that comes into play in this situation (as described in initial post) is this:
I hear this all the time from a lot of guys that make off hand comments about putting in for a unit forever (as I'm sure all you guys do too) they often disregard or forget that there may have...
