I have always wanted the super deer tag. You can practically hunt with a rifle from Aug 15-Nov 30 if you wanted to. Hunt Talker 2023 Fitness Goals

Colorado Elk Point Options
That is where I am leaning. I don't "have" to hunt elk in CO every year. I hunt all over and have just accumulated points in CO. I look at some units I could draw and they seem decent, but I also have heard a lot of good things about the unit I keep waiting for. Might wait all that time and not... -

This year I bought my 11th point. Prior to last year it bounced between 11-13 to draw and last year jumped to 15. So it definitely jumped. -

I am pretty well invested into my CO elk points - in the middle of no mans land. I have always had a unit that I wanted to hunt but I am 3-4 points away now as it sits. Agreed, I am ok that they may never draw them - but having a chance to draw them and a choice to apply in that manner is what counts. Again, all my opinion and as a NR my opinion shouldn't hold up as much as a R would. -

I am not saying the lower point tiers - and I'm not saying they deserve to hunt a 44 3rd either. But as it stands, they will not ever even have a chance. Even if only 25% of the tags went random, then at least there is a chance.
