    How far?

    Last years unit the elk were 1/2 mile as the crow flies from the truck. Due to private it was a 2-1/2 mile hike to get to them. Before that the unit we hunted had elk as close to a mile from the truck but also hunted a spot that was 5 miles from the truck.

    Which side of the hill do elk like to bed in?

    I find a fair amount of elk on East ridges. There will be little finger ridges that come off that form a North slope. I have even found elk bedded on the west side on the north facing finger ridges. This is earlier in the year (archery). So you could say north slopes.

    CO second choice

    The only draws I have done in Co have been archery. I did draw a 2nd choice elk tag twice. It has gotten a lot harder these days for that. I also drew a deer tag 2nd choice. All hunts were very fun hunts.
