Be sure to check your license. It should be valid for 1 unit only. You should have selected a unit when you applied for your hunt. For the archery hunts they don't assign you to a ranch. -

It is very possible to get a bull in that range. It will all depend on the weather. Try starting around the Wall lake area. Most people dont like that area, but have seen some nice bulls in that area. Roads are good in that area and easy to get around. What type of vehicles will you be using?- enorm

WSMR for Oryx, baby!!!!
you will have a great time. Weather is great at that time of year. Really do not need a guide. You can get a shot less than a 100 yards if you take your time. Have been on 4 Rhodes hunts with friends and one for myself. I would take a third person just to help getting your Oryx back to your...- enorm

New mexico unit 34
You drew a good unit. I have hunted that unit for turkey for past 25 years. Have seen some good elk there. You can count on seeing some nice 6x6 and some bigger 5x5. The unit has plenty of access and plenty of people depending on which hunt you drew. -

Merriams in NM 2011
I have hunted in the area for the last 22 years. It has the largest population of turkeys in the state. It also has the most hunters in the state. They are all free range animals. There is a fence around White sands monument but only to keep the oryx out and not in. For the past few years they have been trying to control the numbers by increased hunts. The military wants to keep the numbers to about 2000 on the range. Oryx can become...- enorm

With an on range hunt you really don't need a guide to have a succesful hunt. I have been on 1 hunt for myself and 5 others with friends, and we have never had a hunt we did not get an Oryx. I have hunted off range also and they are much harder to locate the animals. If you put in the time...- enorm
