I hunted 42 a couple years ago. Plenty of antelope. Mostly “average” size. With the walk in areas and the hma there was plenty area to hunt. I was there later in season so the antelope were pretty spooky but no pressure. I saw one other antelope hunter while I was there.
I am from eastern Ky. Been building points in Wyoming and Colorado for a few years. Went to Wyoming last year on an antelope hunt. My first western hunt. It was a blast. I will be back. Work and COVID prevented a trip this year but am planning on going next year for sure.
Just did Colorado applications for me, my wife, and my brother. Just a poor set up. Not terribly confusing but slow, annoying and outdated; especially for a new system a couple years ago.
Not really a bad choice in those three but I think the 300 win mag is hard to beat for an all around rifle for the lower 48 and most of the world for that matter. A lot of bullets and loads that will work from the muzzle to beyond 1000 yards.
I have a 375 Ruger Alaskan. No complaints here. Never used it on anything big yet but I love it. Have taken a few deer and coyotes with it. Worked well there. Shoots very well, pretty much anything you throw at it shoots about an inch or less. Handles great.
I did a hunt this year. Averaged 4 points. It was both of our first experience hunting the west. Awesome hunt. Saw hundreds of antelope on public. Killed a couple of antelope. Learned a lot but there was definitely plenty land to hunt and Plenty antelope on it. No giants.
My wife and I had an awesome time on our first western hunt about a month ago. We spent a few days in Wyoming. Although she didn’t get an antelope she says she will be back. Thanks to all the members on the forum that have helped.
One thing to think about with the MPBR method it that at some point you are shooting at the top edge of the “kill zone” and at some point you are shooting at the bottom edge. Maybe I am being to anal about things but I don’t like that at all. I want to give myself the largest margin for error...
I don’t have a 375 h&h but I have it ballistic twin. A 375 Ruger. I think they are hard to beat. They will work anywhere in the world on anything. Not perfect for everything but adequate and the recoil isn’t too bad either.
