3-9x40 I have shot a few fox over 300 yards with the scope on 5x. I have a 4.5-14x on my 22-250 I don't really like. Way bigger and heavier compared to a 3-9x and at 14x the field of view I so small the rifle jumps enough I can't see the bullet hit
