It appears Idaho is out for this year, my hunting partner cannot go. So I'm looking at a solo Colorado hunt. Looking at 3 units. I would appreciate any info on 22, 45 or 68. Thanks

My friend killed a big 6x6 on at OTC 2nd rifle tag in 45 this year. Tough, steep country but if you're up for the challenge there are certainly elk to be had.

Thanks for the info. But has a first elk hunt I will probably have to save the more challenging spot for future hunts. After reading previous threads from other newbies it seems like staying mobile (close to the truck) and backpack in once u find the elk will probably be my plan. I realize getting a shot is less than 5 percent just really want to hear one bugle.

68 is heavily roaded, but you can use it to your advantage. Not the most populated with elk, but has some beautiful terrain.
