Hunting north of i90 in unit 16 in Wyoming. Plan on taking a sawyer squeeze and some type of chemical to make safe drinking water. Plan on hiking at lest 6 days. Was wondering about the water I see on onxmaps. Some of it looks like reservoirs or natural water pockets and some of them are obviously man made. A little concerned about drinking water that livestock are drinking and possibly peeing in. Hoping somebody with some experience can give some in depth details about hiking and drinking water.

No first hand information but I would be worried about any sort of pond or reservoir. Check with the game wardens for that area and they will likely have better information for you if no one here responds.

I wouldn't drink from standing water without having filtered it first. In the mountains my general rule is to drink from rocky streams coming down the side of the valley and not from streams at the base. The smaller the stream the better and if you can get to the spring you're set.
