Alright guys I'm putting together a 264 win mag to play with. What's your guys favorite loads for from antelope to elk. Been about 10 years since I've played with one.

130 grn swift scirocco in front of 66 grains of H4831 had been the demise of a lot of elk, deer and antelope for my last .264. Sold it about 2 years ago and just picked up a model 70 featherweight .264 the other day. This will be only a deer/antelope rifle and so far it really likes 130 Hornady ELD-M bullets in front of H4831-SC

Back when I was young I loaded up some 65 grn Sierra hollowpoints to shoot prairie dogs. Got them going over 4000 fps. Not real accurate and about 1 in 10 came apart before it made it to the target but when you did connect with a prairie dog, Oh Man!

I'm shooting 140 grn partitions with 61 grains of IMR 7828 and getting about 2980fps... I know I could step it up but I'm trying to preserve the barrel. What speeds are you seeing/what is your barrel length?

The rifle is just pieces right now. Going with a #3 contour 1-8.5" twist brux probably cut at 25". Action is a Remington 700 and it will be sitting in a mcmillan stock

my last one was a sendero with 26" barrel. i was pushing them real hot, but was getting 3300fps with a 130. the factory .264's all come with a 1 in 9 twist and i have never had success with 140's. some people do though

With a 140gr VLDish bullet, that thing should buck the wind and fly well! Sounds like a dandy project.

That was back in the late 80's and I can not remember the fps I was getting. I might have it written down but who knows where. I choose that load when I did the work up because it was the one that gave the best groups in my rifle. Right at 5/8 inch. Think the fps was around 3100 but that was a long time ago and that could have been a different load. Gun is a Rem 700.

140 Partitions over 68 gr Retumbo gets a shade over 3100, good accuracy. Rifle is a Rem 700 action w a 26" Lilja barrel, 1-8" twist, HS Precision stock. Similar loads with Accubonds and the 142 gr LRAB also. Seems like a 3100 MV is the sweet spot for this rifle, regardless of bullet.
