Since not drawing an elk tag, I have been saying I was going to shoot a Whitetail and not a Muledeer this year. My wife has a bigger one on the wall so I have been telling her I was going to shoot one better lol. Have to wait another year.

I have been hunting muledeer alot more then whitetail as they arebetter to access and passed on a great number of bucks. Friends and I packed into the high country above Big Piney for a week which was an awesome hunt, had the oppertunity been right I was going to shoot at a buck over there but he got spooked and I never saw him again.

Then I came back home to do some more archery hunting didnt see a whole lot of bucks that were the calibur I was looking for.

Oct 1st rolled around and I took my cousin who is 13 hunting for mule deer and at first light I saw a big one we snuck in on him and he tried shooting and shot just over his back the buck was gone I was guessing him to go 180+ and I really liked the look of him we continued hunting and found another really nice 4 point that my cousin liked, he made a great shot on it and then the work started. We got it back to camp and I was talking to my Uncle about the other buck and after reviewing pics that I had taken through the Spotter I decided I was going to go after it.

On the Morning of the 3rd I found the buck again I missed the first shot it turned and ran up hill I then put it in the rangefinder 354yrd. I shot again and hit it perfect he ran about 50 yards into some Juniper trees and got all tangled up his horns were rapped around the base of a tree that I had to cut branches off to get him out of.

The best part was having my 8 year old son there to enjoy the hunt with me he said it was a blast. I guess my wife will have to shoot the whitetail again this year :D

nice buck.

Goodnight!
I'd love to know where you hunt!
Congrats on a couple great bucks!

Great looking buck, I like the pics of him stuck in the juniper although I'm sure getting him out wasn't so fun.
