Hey All -

I've spent a good amount of time the past few years hunting in and around the lower portion of the Weminuche N of Pagosa Springs, particularly around Eagle Mtn. With the increased amount of beetle kill and the fire, elk distribution definitely seems to have changed. Areas where late Aug / early Sept used to hold quite a few elk seem to have dried up and with all of the deadfall going is really tough. Can anyone tell me if the burn area around the southern border of the wilderness is holding more elk now - around the west fork trail - north and west?

I'll be heading back up a few more times before archery season ends and looking to try some new spots.

Thanks!
JB
