Sounds like it was a great hunt; congrats on the elk!

And btw, I can’t tell you how many times my teen has forgotten to pack something I repeatedly told her to. Once we had to turn around (thankfully not far from home) because she didn’t put her tags in her pack. I learned to run through the list of things and sometimes just straight up double check her. But then, there was also the time I got to hunt in hip deep snow in jeans because I forgot my hunting pants, soooo….

Anyhow it sounds like you guys made some amazing memories together.

Thanks for the post. I am excited to get my kids into hunting when they get of age. Great learning experience for your son of simply enjoying nature regardless of harvesting something. + he got to put in some hard work packing out meat up the ridge!
