Synthetic vs merino wool base layers

Basically he recommends merino when its hot and synthetic when its cold. He also goes into synthetics that don't have the proper odor control material.

I have black ovis and Minus33....I think the Minus33 is superior.

I have not worn any merino base layers. I've always used synthetics. Even on 8-12 day trips wearing the same layers I've not had an issue with stink.

I have worn the merino mid layers and they work as .good as fleece, but not sold on them any more or less.

Everyone has a differing opinion.

I won't be packing any merino in a few weeks chasing sheep.

I will say that I would never by American or Canadian sources wool anything though.

I don’t know you might need to have your sniffer checked. I can’t imagine 8-12 days in a pair of synthetic bases and no odor.

And are you boycotting American sheep because of the disease issue?
