I’ve decide to sell my Sako L61R .30-06 with Leupold VX3i 2.5-8x36. I originally bought this about 4 or 5 years ago with the intention of turning it into a 35 whelen. It’s still a .30-06 and I’m moving overseas for a couple years so it’s time to give it up. The previous owner had the barrel professionally cut and crowned to 22” by a gunsmith in MT. Trigger and action are superb. The L61R in my opinion might be the best action ever made by Sako. Rifle has some wear since it’s about 50 or 60 years old. Mainly some areas where the blueing has worn thin. No rust anywhere that I see and the stock looks great. I bought the Leupold new and have it mounted in Leupold rings. Buy this, turn it into a 35 Whelen, and become an astronaut and you’ll have lived out 2/3rds of the dreams I’ve given up on. Or leave it as a .30-06 and go kill things. It works just fine as is and balances very well with the 22” barrel.
