I could think of no better way to celebrate the life of a fabulous gun dog than to spend the day with another fabulous gun dog. Henry and I honored his predecessor with a day in the field.

Henry pointed three times.

I shot three times.

Henry retrieved three times.

It was chicken soup for a dog owner's soul.

I couldn't get the roosters around here to hold to a point if I paid them. The only way I can kill them (sometimes) is with the lab.

Hunting roosters is just plain good for the soul! My dad and I and my 3 kids went out yesterday and shot our 4 in an hour. Dad needed 3 shots on the first one though, so he got a little grief. Nice to have 3 little Sherpas (10 yr old girl, twin 6 yr old boys) to haul the birds for us!
