MinnesotaHunter talk of building a rifle pushed me over the edge and I went to the gunsmith placing a down payment on my next rifle. I will hopefully have it some time in late October or early November. I got bit by the long range bug a few years back and had a 240 weatherby built and then last year I bought a HS precision hunter SPL in 7mm mag and have been pleased with it but it is not exactly what I want; so I figured might as build what I one. I will hunt this year with the HS and then prolly sell it and recoup some if not all of my cost. I am putting together the rifle with the following components.
Stiller predator action
Pacific tool and gauge bottom metal aluminum (BDL floor plate)
Jewell trigger set at 1 3/4 lb
Boughton barrel 1-9 twist finished length 26" #4 fluted chambered in 7mm rem mag
Muzzle brake made by gunsmith only about an 1" long (can't stand the largish brakes)
McMillan hunter stock 80% black 10% med gray 10% white with seekins precision
2" sling rail system for bipod attachment
Talley aluminum one piece rings and bases
Nightforce 5.5-22 scope
Finished weight of rifle should be around 9 3/4lb
Dave Bruno out of Dayton PA is the builder. I have had Dave build me a few other rifles and have been very satisfied.
Now the waiting game begins.

Nice!! Sounds like a hell of a gun!! I am having a 338 lapua built on a stiller action.

Here is a .260 rem that I have built/building(put together is more like it) for my father. It's been a ton of fun. Sorry for hijacking and the crappy picture!

Love the rifle porn....

Muleyfanatic...you have a weight estimate? Nice components by the way.

Muleyfanatic, have you seen that Nightforce is coming out with a 2.5-10x42? Bout perfect for a hunting rifle. mtmuley

mtmuley I have been checking them out; but already have the 5.5-22. I shot the HS today at 875 yards and was gettin 5-6 inch groups consistently so I may have lied to you guys and the wife about gettin rid of it. Just keep that between us though.

Gunsmith called this weekend! Rifle is complete! I ordered scope last week and it should be here Thursday. I ordered dies and LE Wilson case trimmer tonight; figured might as well get new trimmer since I am not a big fan of the Lyman one I have. I am also going to try the Redding neck bushing dies with this rifle. Will pick rifle up this weekend and post a pic. Hopefully I get to use it on something out west this year! My buddy will use the HS if he gets drawn this year so I will be keeping it since I have "legit" excuse to. LOL

We’ve been waiting over 10 years for a picture now.

Curious how it all ended up and if you liked the rifle enough to still have it 10 years later?

LOL
I liked the rifle a lot but ended up being a little heavier than expected. Rifle shot awesome but end up having it rebarreled and restocked; I went with 28 nosler since I had 2 other 7mm rem mags.
Here is the picture of it in its original build.

Very nice. I am currently waiting to get a rifle back from Dave Bruno, hence how I stumbled upon your original posting. Will post when I get it back, hopefully this week or next week.

He does phenomenal work. I also had a 240 weatherby built by him on a stiller action.
The rifles I have had done by him are absolute tac drivers. His fit and finish is top notch also.
If people are willing to wait a little bit a custom rifle isn’t that much more expensive than a heck of a lot of factory rifles. When going with a reputable builder you aren’t taking a gamble at all either.

Traitor, that 300wsm would of been just the berries. Bet ya didn't like the kick?

Had a 7 LRM built too by a different builder ended up being a turd especially with quality of brass had it rebarreled to a 7mm rem. Thats what pushed me to the 28 nosler better case design and quality brass because of too many 7mm rems. I’ve definitely cost myself some dough chasing the perfect rifle. Currently having a Grit precision being built for coyote thermal hunting.
I enjoy quality accurate rifles no doubt. Have a little bit of an addiction. It’s funny how the view of a particular platform change. Have way too many rifles but never enough. Tough to get rid of them.
