I was hoping to get some other thoughts and opinions on this.

As of late I have been putting a lot of thought in hunting and what's good and bad for the sport. One of the things in the area where i live is a game farm where they raise pheasants and release x amount into the field. My first thought was this is great I have a place close to home where I can train my dog and get her on some live birds without driving 200-250 miles for pheasant hunting (which I do twice a year but only for 3-4 days at a time). Then I thought well is this really fair chase? Is this the right way that puts hunting in a good light? I did go out twice to this game farm and the pheasants seem to be treated well and it seemed to be run in a manner that promoted dog training, habitat, gun safety, and youth introduction(they do a youth hunt for the local boy scouts).

The fact that I do make the trips to go wild bird hunting I do see the difference between pen birds and wild birds.

Pro:
Available game close to home
Promotes habitat
Promotes safety
Promotes youth hunting
Dog training

Cons:
Pay to Play
Is it really hunting??

Let me know what you guys think.
