This time of year, we're blessed to watch the Elk filter past our ranch. They come out of the foothills just before dusk, headed for a meadow they like to feed in. In the morning, just after sun up, they return to higher ground We've been seeing 20 to 60 head.
Tonight, I saw something I never witnessed before. About 6 Mule Deer lead the Elk out of a draw, into the meadow. 4 of the Deer moved into some trees, but 2 Deer were comingled with the herd of Elk and they all fed together. A pretty simple situation, but I've just never seen them feed together before. Something new for me.
